According to the ICC, the T20 World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February to March 2026. While the majority of matches will take place in India, Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka, including potential knockout games. Teams and Group Stage Format

The 20 participating teams have been divided into four groups – A, B, C, and D, with five teams in each group. Each team will play four matches in the group stage, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 stage.

In the Super 8 stage, eight teams are divided into two groups, and the top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals. The ICC has announced eight seeded teams, whose positions in the Super 8 stage are predetermined for logistical reasons. If an unseeded team qualifies, it will take the place of any seeded team that fails to advance.

It’s worth noting that Scotland replaced Bangladesh after the latter refused to travel to India due to security concerns. Scotland earned the spot as the highest-ranked non-qualified team from the qualifiers.
