Nepali Cricket team and Nepali fans are all pumped for the historic T20 International series against the two times T20 World Cup champions West Indies. Nepal is hosting West Indies for a 3-matches T20I series in Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Dubai. With Nepal’s TU Cricket Ground under renovation and upgrade, the series was scheduled in UAE.

The first match of the series will be played on 27th of Septmeber followed by second match on 29th September. The last match of the historic series will be played on 30th of September. All the matches will start from 8:45 pm Nepali time.

This will be the first time that Nepal and West Indies are playing for the first time in T20 International. However, Nepal and West Indies have played each other in One Day International. The only match between these two sides was played back in 2023 in Harare, Zimbabwe during the ODI World Cup Qualifier. Nepal lost that match by 101 runs after West Indies posted 339 runs on the board. In that match, Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope scored a century each. Aarif Sheikh top scored for Nepal with 63 runs in that match.

Even though, Nepal hasn’t played T20I with West Indies before, Nepal do have played a T20 series against the West Indies ‘A’ last year at TU Cricket Ground. Nepal lost the T20 series by 3-2. Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel finished as the top run scorer of that series with 265 runs which also include a century.

Talking about the recent forms, both the teams are going through quite rough patch in the shorter format of the game. In their recent 5 T20I matches, Nepal has won only 2 of them, one each with Scotland and the Netherlands. Nepal also lost to Kuwait in the final of Quadrangular series in Hong Kong.

On the other hand, West Indies also has registered just a win from their last 5 matches. They lost the T20I series against Pakistan by 2-1. West Indies also lost the 5-matches T20I series against Australia as they lost all the 5 matches.

With comperatively different and inexperienced squad, Nepal might stand a chance to register atleast a win against the two-times world champions West Indies during this series.
