Today, Nepal will play against Laos in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Nepal lost their first match 2-0 to Malaysia, making a comeback win crucial.

As preparation, Nepal recently played a friendly match against a stronger opponent, Hong Kong, which ended in a goalless draw. The team also trained at high altitude in Manang, which players say was helpful.

Historically, Nepal has never lost to Laos in six encounters, winning three and drawing three. Given this record and good preparation, Nepal is favored to win.

Coach Matthew Ross emphasized the importance of every upcoming match and the need to play to win. Captain Kiran Chemjong highlighted strong team bonding, no injury concerns, and aims for an excellent performance against Laos.

Nepal’s group also includes Malaysia and Vietnam, who are stronger ranked teams. Each team will play six matches home and away, with the group winner qualifying for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Today’s match between Nepal and Laos will kick off at 5:45 PM at the National Stadium.
