Nepal Falls to Namibia in Women's T20I Series Opener in Uganda
Nepal suffered a defeat against Namibia in the opening match of the Women's T20I series in Uganda.
In the first game today, Namibia secured a six-wicket victory over Nepal. Chasing a target of 93 runs, Namibia had reached 39/1 in eight overs when rain interrupted play.
After a brief delay, the match resumed with Namibia given a revised target of 71 runs in 15 overs. They successfully chased it down in 14.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process.
Earlier, Nepal, opting to bat first after winning the toss at the Entebbe Cricket Oval, was bowled out for 92 runs on the final delivery of their 20-over innings.
Opener Samjhana Khadka was Nepal’s top scorer, contributing 18 runs off 11 balls with four boundaries. Kavita Joshi added 16 runs off 31 balls, including one four, while Puja Mahato scored 13 runs from 20 deliveries. Ishwori Bist remained unbeaten on 17 off 14 balls, hitting two boundaries.
For Namibia, Mickeley Mawatele and Vicky Mawatele both claimed three wickets each, while Kayleen Green took two wickets.
This match marked the first-ever encounter between the women's teams of Nepal and Namibia. Additionally, it is Nepal's first time competing in an international series outside Asia.
The series features four teams—hosts Uganda, Nepal, Namibia, and Hong Kong. Each team will play two matches against every other team in the league stage, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
